About Novus

Supermarket chain of the Lithuanian BT Invest

Novus is part of the "BT Invest Ukraine" group, established by the former owners of the juice manufacturer "Sandora" — Lithuanian Raimondas Tumenas and the late Ihor Bezzub. "Sandora" was sold to PepsiCo in 2007 for approximately $700 million, and the proceeds were invested in retail and development in Ukraine. The owner of Novus is the Lithuanian company Consul Trade House UAB; in 2020, it acquired the Ukrainian Billa chain from Rewe International for about $65–75 million. Revenue for 2023 was UAH 23.6 billion (+47%), placing the chain among the top five largest retail networks in Ukraine. Currently, there are about 99 outlets under the Novus, “Mi Market,” and “Khapaika” brands.

Raider attack in 2016 involving "senior officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs"

In 2016, there was a scandal involving a raider attack on BT Invest: corporate rights to the group's companies were transferred to unnamed persons; the attack was stopped only through the intervention of senior officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. A key structural feature: Novus and Stolitsa Group share common beneficiaries — Raimondas Tumenas, Maryna Poznyakova, and Agne Ruzgiene; de facto, both directions (retail and development) are part of a single business group under the Lithuanian flag.
