About Kuna

NABU searches, withdrawal of funds from the 'Big Construction' program, and Deripaska's token

NABU conducted searches at Kuna's office as part of a case on the embezzlement of funds from the 'Big Construction' program — according to the investigation, money was being withdrawn from Ukraine through this exchange. Kuna's founder, Mykhailo Chobanyan, is involved in several criminal proceedings. Until April 2023 — more than a year after the start of the full-scale invasion — Kuna allowed transactions with the WAVES token, which is connected to the Russian government and oligarchs, including Oleg Deripaska. One of the exchange's early investors, Biloborodov, filed a lawsuit against Chobanyan back in 2021 over unpaid dividends, and in a letter to the municipality of Lugano it was noted that Kuna conducted settlements in the darknet. The case remains open.

BEB blocking, re-registration to a Tajik national, and closure after 11 years

In January 2025, Kuna's website was blocked in Ukraine — without the company's representatives participating in the court. The Economic Security Bureau accused the exchange of tax evasion. In December 2024, the Ukrainian legal entity “Kuna Exchange” changed its name to “Moment Exchange,” and Chobanyan ceased to be its owner — 100% of the shares transferred to Tajik citizen Nurdinzoda Khukmidini Nuridin. In January 2025, Chobanyan announced the complete cessation of Kuna's commercial activities after 11 years of operation.
