Occupied Melitopol Has Been Without Power for Fifth Day

Temporarily occupied Melitopol has been experiencing a large-scale blackout for the fifth consecutive day. This was reported by Glavcom citing local Telegram channels.

There is a complete lack of electricity in the city, forcing local residents to find any means and alternative sources to charge their phones.

Against the backdrop of the critical situation, the so-called “governor” of the occupied part of Zaporizhzhia region, Yevhen Balytskyi, announced the introduction of a “state of emergency” in the seized territories. According to him, prolonged emergency power outages and the resulting disruption of water supply led to these consequences.

“Due to prolonged emergency power outages caused by the enemy’s attack on the region’s critical infrastructure and, as a result, disruption of the water supply, a technological state of emergency of regional level has been declared in the territory of the region. This decision will allow us to significantly expand support measures for residents and more promptly mobilize all necessary resources to eliminate the consequences,” the gauleiter said.

Earlier it was reported that all settlements in the Russia-controlled part of Kherson region were left without power, and partial blackouts also occurred in the occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia region. This was reported by the Russia-appointed heads of the occupation administrations — Volodymyr Saldo and Yevhen Balytskyi on Telegram.

Recall that a similar large-scale blackout in the occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions was previously recorded — at that time the cause was also named as a drone attack on high-voltage equipment.
