A New Preventive Measure for Yermak: What the High Anti-Corruption Court Decided

The High Anti-Corruption Court 10 of August partially granted the defense’s motion for the former head of the Office of the President, Andriy Yermak, and changed his preventive measure. He can now travel outside Kyiv and the Kyiv region without agreement from the detective and the court, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office reported. Yermak was permitted to visit Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Kherson regions. Transit travel through other regions is also allowed. The SAP noted that the defense’s petition to the court was prompted by the simultaneous receipt at SAP and NABU of several similarly worded letters from commanders of military units acting in the interests of the suspect. Yermak explained the need for travel by citing his participation in a project providing legal assistance to servicemembers. At the same time, prosecutors emphasized that the previously imposed obligations did not prevent his participation in this project, where he is a manager rather than a lawyer directly providing legal assistance. The defense also requested cancellation of the obligation to wear an electronic bracelet. The court did not grant that part of the motion. The decision was made by the High Anti-Corruption Court. SAP and NABU reported the changes to the preventive measure. We remind you that the full required bail amount was posted for the former head of the Office of the President, Andriy Yermak — 140 million hryvnias. In total, about 200 payments were made; some people contributed 1 kopecks each. The total amount collected exceeded 154 million hryvnias.
