Batkivshchyna Is Running in the Kyiv City Council Election a Former Deputy of Klitschko Who Became Notorious for Attacking a Police Officer

A Kyiv City Council member from Batkivshchyna wants to become Volodymyr Slonchak, a former deputy mayor of Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko, who became known after a openly rude incident with police this spring. This is stated in an investigation by Bihus.Info.

At the end of April, patrol police stopped a car in central Kyiv because its headlights were off. The car was driven by a Kyiv City Council deputy Lyudmyla Kostenko, and the passenger at that time was Vitali Klitschko’s former deputy Volodymyr Slonchak. Both responded rather pointedly to the stop, insulted the police, and asserted their status.

According to case materials, Slonchak got out of the car and, continuing to insult the patrol, struck one of them. The next day Slonchak was fired from Kyiv City State Administration and a suspicion was announced against him. The indictment in the criminal case has now been sent to the Solomianskyi District Court of Kyiv.

But Slonchak apparently did not want to end his political career. Now he is running for Kyiv City Council under Batkivshchyna’s list with the 9 number. At the same time, through a court process, he seeks to restore his position as deputy head of the Kyiv City State Administration – he wants to cancel the order on his dismissal and to claim from the city budget his average salary for the time of forced absence.

Vladimir Slonchak did not want to talk about the incident and the upcoming elections with journalists. His assistant Nazar Krytskaluk initially promised a full interview, but after hearing the questions, he changed his mind.
