The Rada appointed two members to the NBU Council: both worked with Pyshnyi at Oschadbank

The Verkhovna Rada appointed Anatolii Barsukov and Olena Shcherbakova as members of the NBU Council — both previously worked at Oschadbank when its head was the current NBU governor Andrii Pyshnyi, writes EP.

This was reported on Telegram by MP Yaroslav Zhelezniak.

According to him, resolutions No. 8206 and No. 8240 were supported by 233 and 240 deputies, respectively.

Reminder:

The Financial Committee of the Verkhovna Rada recommended Olena Shcherbakova for the position of member of the NBU Council; she previously held this position from 2016 to 2022, and was also adviser to the chairman of the management board of Oschadbank in 2015–2019 (during which time the bank was headed by the current NBU governor Andrii Pyshnyi).

In 2015–2019, Olena Shcherbakova worked as adviser to the chairman of the management board of JSC “Oschadbank,” where the chairman of the management board was the current NBU governor Andrii Pyshnyi.

In addition, as stated in the biographical note on the Verkhovna Rada website, Shcherbakova was also a member of the National Bank Council from June 2016 to June 2022.

Earlier, Anatolii Barsukov was supported for the other vacant position on the NBU Council; in 2014–2021 he was deputy chairman of the management board of Oschadbank.

As stated on the NBU website, the National Bank Council “is responsible for developing the main guidelines of monetary policy and exercises control over the implementation of monetary policy. In addition, it supervises the National Bank’s internal control system.”

The NBU Council consists of nine members:

four persons are appointed by the Verkhovna Rada;

four persons by the president;

the head of the National Bank is a member of the Council by virtue of office.

As noted on the NBU website, the NBU Council now has 7 members: Bohdan Danylyshyn, Vasyl Furman, Mykola Kalenskyi, Ihor Veremii (by the president’s quota), Viktor Koziuk, Vasyl Horbal (by the Verkhovna Rada’s quota), Andrii Pyshnyi (as NBU governor).
