An Armed Attack Was Committed in Lviv Against a Serviceman of the Territorial Recruitment Center – He Died in the Ambulance

Lviv regional military administrator Maksym Kozytskyi 00:30 at night 22 August posted on social media that a National Guard service member and staff member was fatally wounded in Lviv while performing official duties. Police added that the tragedy occurred on Stepan Bandera Street.

During a group alerting of service duties (conducting civil defense alerting and checking military registration documents), preliminarily, 25-year-old Lviv resident suddenly attacked a 55-year-old service member of the Lychakiv-Zaliznychnyi District Territorial Center of Recruitment and Social Support. In response to a direct threat to his life and health, a law enforcement officer from the alerting group opened fire with service firearms.

The police officer fired two shots at the attacker, injuring him in the legs. Medical workers hospitalized the wounded assailant. At the same time, unfortunately, rescuing the wounded service member was not possible—emergency medical teams conducted resuscitation efforts, but the man died.

Currently, a investigative-operative group and other specialized services are at the scene. Law enforcement authorities are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.

Additionally, just less than a month ago, 29 in July, in Kyiv’s Podil district Territorial Center of Recruitment and Social Support, a man during a medical examination inflicted knife wounds on 55-year-old surgeon—she died at the scene from blood loss and shock. The suspect is now in custody without the right to bail.
