Fatal attack in Lviv. Military serviceman from the recruitment and social support center died while checking documents

In Lviv, an employee of the Recruitment and Social Support Center (RCSS) was fatally wounded while performing official duties. This was reported in the night of 22 August by the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi.

The attacker was detained. The head of the regional administration expressed condolences to the deceased's family and emphasized that punishment must be inevitable.

Earlier, footage circulated online from Lviv showing many police vehicles. Public pages wrote that a man allegedly inflicted a fatal stab wound to the RCSS employee's neck.

The Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region reported that the incident occurred in the night of 22 August on Stepan Bandera Street.

According to law enforcement, during activities to notify the population about mobilization and to check military registration documents, a 25-year-old resident of Lviv attacked a serviceman from the Lychakiv-Zaliznychnyi District RCSS.

A police officer who was part of the notification group used his service firearm. The officer fired two shots toward the alleged attacker, as a result of which the attacker sustained a leg wound. He was hospitalized.

"The 55-year-old RCSS serviceman, despite resuscitation efforts, died in the ambulance," the report states.

As "Trukha Lviv" writes, the man lunged at a police officer with a knife after the officer opened fire.
