Activists of the “Who Ordered Katya Handziuk?” initiative appealed to Poroshenko

Public organizations urged President Petro Poroshenko to dismiss from their positions those whom the activists believe are involved in the murder of Kateryna Handziuk: members of the BPP, Kherson officials Andriy Gordeyev and Yevhen Ryshchuk.

This is stated in the appeal to the president from the “Who Ordered Katya Handziuk?” initiative, reports Ukrayinska Pravda.

“The situation with attacks on representatives of civil society is systemic and requires your attention… We spoke about the need to dismiss from their positions the persons involved in the murder of our friend — Andriy Gordeyev and Yevhen Ryshchuk, so that they would not be able to influence the investigation,” the appeal to Poroshenko says.

In the activists’ view, the elections showed how Ukrainian society regards the president.

“In its eyes you are an ally of the killers Gordeyev and Ryshchuk. You are an ally of Kernes, Trukhanov and other local princes. You are an ally of Medvedchuk and Akhmetov. But you are not an ally of civil society,” the organizations stated.

The activists note that Poroshenko cannot buy his way out with a statement about “shared concern,” because it is the president who is responsible for the actions and inaction of the Prosecutor General and the head of the SBU, representatives in the BPP.

“You ‘brought forth’ these monsters; you are responsible for neutralizing them,” the activists say about Ryshchuk and Gordeyev.

“As of now you received the third result in the Kherson region. After Volodymyr Zelensky and Yuriy Boyko. This result was secured for you by Handziuk’s killers. There is one day left 21. Think,” the NGO statement says.

In particular, they assert that Poroshenko can “stick his head out of the sand” and fulfill a number of society’s demands:

“Dismiss Gordeyev and Ryshchuk from their positions. Vladyslav Manger must be imprisoned, because his people pressure witnesses and victims, threaten them, and arrange with Gordeyev and Ryshchuk to cover for one another. You must publicly condemn Trukhanov and Kernes, as well as their criminal friends who terrorize civil society activists in Odesa, Kharkiv and other regions of Ukraine. The Prosecutor General must finally submit to the Verkhovna Rada a motion to lift the immunity of MP Hennadiy Bobov. He is another feudal lord from Cherkasy region — by all indications the sponsor of the murder of journalist and activist Vasyl Sergiyenko. That crime is already five years old. On the Handziuk list there are 55 surnames, and there is no movement on any of them. You 3 months have been deliberately ignoring meetings with the Temporary Investigative Commission of the Verkhovna Rada to conduct an investigation of attacks on activists.”
