The Prosecutor General’s Office Denied Information About Suspicion of the NABU Director — Kravchenko Responded

Information about the notice of suspicion to the director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, Semen Kryvonos, is not accurate. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General, emphasizing that within the relevant criminal proceeding no one was named as a suspect under the Criminal Procedure Code for lack of legal grounds, and the corresponding entries in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations (URPI) were canceled.

The Office’s statement was a response to publications by Ruslan Krawchenko, the former acting Prosecutor General, who previously announced the signing and sending by mail of a suspicion against the head of NABU.

Reacting to the refutation, Krawchenko wrote in Telegram that People’s Deputy Oleksandr Bakumov allegedly exerted pressure on the leadership of the Bureau of Economic Security and the Office with a demand to invalidate the procedural document at any cost.

“However, a lawful procedural decision is not canceled by back-room deals. If the notice of suspicion was properly sent and this is confirmed by corresponding postal receipts, any attempt to cancel it or remove information from the URPI will bear signs of political and unlawful interference,” Krawchenko wrote.

He assured that “the decision by President Volodymyr Zelensky to submit a petition for his dismissal does not relieve the head of the anti-corruption bureau from accountability to society.”

In the morning 14 of September, Krawchenko posted a video in which he stated that he had signed suspicions against the NABU director and a person “close to the head of SAP.”

President Volodymyr Zelensky subsequently removed Ruslan Krawchenko from the post.

Heads of NABU and SAP stated that they learned about the suspicions from Telegram.
