Gas oligarch under US sanctions in Vienna

Born on October 2, 1964 in Khmelnytskyi region. Billionaire, owner of Group DF — chemical enterprises (titanium and fertilizer industries), media holding ("Inter", "K1"), telecom. Net worth at peak over $7 billion. Since 2014, he has been in Vienna on bail of €125 million, contesting the US extradition request — charged with bribery in obtaining licenses for titanium mining in India. Cooperated with Russia through "RosUkrEnergo" — intermediary in Gazprom gas supplies. In 2024–2025, Belarus appointed Firtash as a diplomat, granting a diplomatic passport — potentially protecting against extradition.

₴15 billion losses of Nadra Bank, lawsuits by the Deposit Guarantee Fund and Lagun's debt secured by 90% of shares

Firtash acquired Nadra Bank in 2010–2011 and remained its controlling shareholder until liquidation in 2015. In February 2015, the National Bank of Ukraine declared the bank insolvent. The total National Bank debt for refinancing received during Firtash’s tenure remains unpaid; the Prosecutor General's Office investigated the responsibility of National Bank officials who issued the refinancing. Former bank chairman Hilenko is wanted on suspicion of organizing the embezzlement of ₴6.4 billion in refinancing provided as early as 2008 by previous owners. The Deposit Guarantee Fund filed three lawsuits against Firtash — ₴10.9 billion, ₴5.9 billion and ₴1.7 billion; the total claims related to his ownership period amount to about ₴15 billion out of the bank’s total ₴30 billion losses. Lawsuits were filed in 2024. Separately, Firtash owes Mykola Lagun $200 million in credit funds, having pledged 90% of Nadra Bank shares and 25% of Inter TV channel shares as collateral.

Everyone agrees that he is being helped by exceptional lawyers, and there is an opinion that these are the lawyers of Dmytro Firtash, but we have not yet found confirmation of this information. — UP journalist Mykhailo Tkach Subscribe: Bankova Mail Follow us on X Top on the...

Former Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko settled in Vienna with his wife and officially registered their place of residence in Austria. The couple left Ukraine separately and reached Europe without air travel. The NGO "Automaidan" reported this on Facebook, citing information from journalist Mykhailo Tkach. At the same time, the president of the Basketball Federation of Ukraine, Mykhailo Brodskyi, said the couple moved into the house of businessman Dmytro Firtash. Details

Sanctioned oligarch Firtash is earning billions on gas while Ukrainians are being prepared for a shortage. Who is creating the market shortage to force people to pay more? Ukrainians are again being prepared for a harsh winter and warned about a possible pressure shortage in the gas system in January–February due to enemy attacks. 🤷‍♂️However, government officials, including the minister of energy and #Шмигаль, are keeping silent about the main question: who exactly benefits from such a shortag...
