People's Deputy
Civic activist from OPORA, Deputy Minister of Education, and member of the Central Election Commission
Hevko's career was shaped from the very beginning within the reformist environment. From 2006 to 2009, he headed OPORA (one of the most authoritative organizations monitoring elections in Ukraine) as Executive Director, after which he moved to the public sector — as Director of the Department of Higher Education Personnel at the Ministry of Education and Science. From 2014 to 2016, he served as Deputy Minister of Education and Science, and after leaving the ministry, he returned to the civic sector — leading the advocacy department of the Reanimation Package of Reforms. From 2012 to 2014, simultaneously, he was assistant to People's Deputy from Svoboda, Mykhailo Holovko.
From Holos to the CEC
In the 2019 parliamentary elections, he ran from the Holos party at number 23 on the list but did not enter the Verkhovna Rada. Instead, he received another appointment: since 2019, he has been a member of the Central Election Commission. The position in the CEC is one of the key roles in ensuring the electoral process, and Hevko obtained it through Holos' quota.
Hevko’s declarations record financial obligations to private individuals — not banks, insurance, or leasing companies. Given his status as a CEC member and reformist positioning, unofficial lending from private persons is an unusual detail for the public register.
Fatal Traffic Accident
In March 2023, Hevko was involved in a traffic accident in which another participant died. He himself wrote on Facebook that he is cooperating with the investigation, underwent all alcohol and drug tests, and promised to support the family of the deceased. In October 2024, after the death of People's Deputy from Servant of the People Oleg Makarov, Hevko was considered as the next candidate to enter the Verkhovna Rada within the Holos faction.
