Liberal pro-European politics with an emphasis on reforms and anti-corruption.
The Holos party is a Ukrainian political force of liberal orientation, founded in 2019 on the initiative of musician Sviatoslav Vakarchuk. Formally, the party emerged through the renaming of an already existing political structure, Platform of Initiatives, which allowed it to quickly participate in the parliamentary elections. The party has branches in most regions of Ukraine, except the temporarily occupied territories.
In the extraordinary parliamentary elections of 2019, Holos received 5.82% of the votes and formed its own faction in the Verkhovna Rada. Some party deputies obtained leading positions in parliamentary committees, which increased its influence on the legislative process. Initially, the party was headed by Sviatoslav Vakarchuk; however, in 2020 leadership passed to Kyrya Rudyk.
Subsequently, the party actively participated in political life, including the local elections of 2020. At the same time, its activities were accompanied by internal conflicts. In 2021, a split occurred in Holos, resulting in some deputies creating a separate group called Spravedlyvist (Justice), which led to the weakening of the political force and a decrease in its parliamentary cohesion.
The party changed its position in the Verkhovna Rada — from cooperation with the authorities to opposition activity, and then again to partial support of certain decisions. This reflected internal processes and political contradictions within the team.
With the start of the full-scale war in 2022, some representatives of the party joined the defense of the country. At the same time, the level of support for Holos gradually declined, as reflected in sociological ratings.
