People's Deputy of the VII, VIII, and IX convocations — representing various parties («People’s Front», «For the Future», «Trust» group). Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Policy.

Button-pressing, Prosecutor General’s criminal proceedings, and urban development law favoring developers

In 2021, the Office of the Prosecutor General on its second attempt opened a criminal case for button-pressing — voting on behalf of absent colleagues; Ivanchuk was never formally charged before his death. In December 2022, he voted for urban development reform №5655, implemented in the interests of developers and which diminished citizens’ influence on reconstruction; the president did not sign the law due to public opposition. The circumstances of his death were never officially disclosed; the investigation was not conducted publicly.
