Front person to bypass sanctions

Immediately after sanctions were imposed on Fridman and Aven in March 2022, their partners in "Alfa-Group", Herman Khan and Oleksiy Kuzmychov, transferred their shares in "Alfa-Bank Ukraine" to Kosohov — he became the largest shareholder with a 40.96% stake. Thus, Kosohov effectively acted as a front person to maintain "Alfa-Group"'s control over Ukrainian assets, circumventing sanctions. The National Bank of Ukraine blocked this scheme — in October 2022 it prohibited Kosohov from acquiring a significant stake in the bank due to sanctions imposed on him by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC).

Asset arrest worth 17 billion and lawsuit against Ukraine

Kosohov is one of the founders and principal shareholders of "Alfa-Group", a member of the board of directors of LetterOne. In October 2023, a court arrested all his corporate rights in Ukraine — along with the rights of Fridman and Aven — over 17 billion UAH in 20 companies, including a stake in "Kyivstar". The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine filed a lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court seeking sanctions against Fridman, Aven, Kosohov, and the company Rissa Investments Limited simultaneously — aiming at the final nationalization of the group's assets in Ukraine.
