Svarog and the Regionals

He came to parliament through agribusiness: he held the position of director at LLC "Bukovynskyi Sad" and worked as a legal counsel for the corporation "Svarog West Group."

The shareholders of "Svarog West Group" are former MPs from "Batkivshchyna" and the Party of Regions, brothers Oleksandr and Serhiy Buryaky. According to unofficial data, the Buryaky brothers supported Kozak's father — Vasyl, the head of Sokyriany District Council in Chernivtsi Oblast — in elections. That is, the mandate of this "Servant of the People" grew out of direct personnel and financial ties with the environment of the Party of Regions.

Relative of Kernes and "Anti-Banderite" Jokes

Kozak is the brother of Hennadiy Kernes's daughter-in-law, Yulia, who married the middle son of the former Kharkiv mayor Danylo Kernes. The Kernes family sold Kozak in 2018 a company producing juices and food products. The deputy's sister, according to media, posted photos in front of the Kremlin and "anecdotes about Banderites."

NABU, Silence, and Voting Against Anti-Corruption

In 2023, MP Honcharenko reported that NABU conducted searches at Kozak's premises. NABU refused to provide information about the proceedings due to the secrecy of the pre-trial investigation. Kozak did not support the bill about opening declarations but supported the initiative that softened liability for falsehoods in them. On July 22, 2025, Kozak voted for bill 12414, which effectively liquidated the independence of NABU and SAP and subordinated them to the Prosecutor General. A person against whom NABU has conducted investigative actions votes for the destruction of NABU's independence — a telling symmetry.
