Twice a subject of criminal cases for destroying cases against Tymoshenko and eavesdropping on journalists

Major General of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), Deputy Head of the Batkivshchyna party, People's Deputy of three convocations. After dismissal from the Security Service, two criminal cases were initiated against Kozhemyakin. According to the investigation, on Turchynov's orders, he destroyed several volumes of criminal proceedings regarding Tymoshenko and Semen Mohylevych—a criminal authority accused of fraud and document forgery. The second investigation concerned eavesdropping on phone conversations of journalists from the newspaper "Segodnya."

Trips to Moscow for Savchenko's trial and low attendance in the Verkhovna Rada

In 2015, together with four colleagues from the Batkivshchyna faction, he traveled to Moscow for the trial of Nadiya Savchenko. According to Opora, Kozhemyakin's attendance based on written registrations in the IX convocation of the Verkhovna Rada was only 53%—one of the lowest among deputies. He proposed establishing a Temporary Investigative Commission to investigate the murder of Kremenchuk Mayor Oleh Babaiev, but the initiative did not gain support. In his declaration, he declared significant cash assets without a clear explanation of their origin.
