Yanukovych's assets and ties to Kononenko

Vitaliy Valeriyovych Kropachov — entrepreneur, owner of the Ukrdoninvest group of companies (coal, gas, media), deputy of the Donetsk Regional Council of the VI convocation from the Party of Regions.

In 2018, Bihus.info journalists found that most of Yanukovych's entourage's coal assets were transferred to Kropachov. That same year, Ukrainska Pravda reported that he also acquired gas assets belonging to Yanukovych's son. In 2016, media called Kropachov the "coal overseer" in Ukraine and linked him to Ihor Kononenko — business partner of President Poroshenko.

Centrenergo and double price for American coal

In 2017, media reported that Centrenergo paid double the price for transportation and forwarding services for American coal to a company linked to Kropachov.

Pro-Russian TV channel during the war

In January 2023, Kropachov launched the Ukraine World News TV channel — opened based on banned pro-Russian channels "112 Ukraine" and NewsOne. The technical director confirmed that Kropachov is the investor and owner of the media outlet.

Detention by the State Bureau of Investigation and 2 billion UAH in damages

On May 17, 2024, the State Bureau of Investigation detained Kropachov. According to the investigation, through Krasnolimanske LLC and officials of the Ministry of Energy and the State Property Fund he caused the state damages exceeding 2 billion UAH. Scheme from 2016–2018: three state coal enterprises purchased equipment at inflated prices — illegal overpayment amounted to over 51 million UAH. On May 21, 2024, Pechersky Court remanded Kropachov in custody for 60 days without bail.
