Pavlo Kuftyrev is known in Ukraine as an “ecoraider” — a person who uses environmental organizations and nature protection slogans as a cover for the seizure of industrial facilities. The scheme is simple: an “environmental protest” is organized, lawsuits are filed by “public organizations,” and as a result, the real owner loses control over the enterprise.
Kuftyrev has targeted the Mykolaiv Alumina Plant — a strategic enterprise producing alumina. According to antikor.info, a series of “environmental” lawsuits and inspections were initiated against the plant, aimed not at protecting nature, but at destabilizing the enterprise’s operations and changing ownership. Industrial assets — under the sights of green slogans.
To implement his schemes, Kuftyrev used a network of nominal public organizations from whose names lawsuits and complaints were filed. Legal attacks ran parallel with information campaigns against the owners. A classic raider tool — just wrapped in a “green” cover instead of black “titushky” (hired thugs).
Despite publications in anti-corruption media and journalists’ investigations, Kuftyrev continues the practice of seizures. Law enforcement agencies respond slowly — while “environmental” lawsuits are considered for years, the real goal is achieved: owners are exhausted, enterprises stop, assets pass into the desired hands.
