Businessman, founder of Zaporozhye company LLC "MIK"
"The Gray Cardinal" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine's clothing supply and a major supplier of special clothing
Oleg Mitrokhin is a well-known Ukrainian businessman and founder of the large Zaporozhye company LLC "MIK," which is a leading national manufacturer of special clothing for industry, construction, and the security sector. Over recent years, his business group (including the enterprises "MIK," "Yugstal," and "UNIK Bulava") has become one of the most powerful and active private contractors for the state. In just the last few years, his companies have concluded defense and state contracts worth about 10 billion hryvnias, supplying the Armed Forces of Ukraine with clothing and other material assets. Despite regular criticism of the public procurement system, Mitrokhin is successfully expanding his business empire by engaging former Ministry of Defense officials and ex-law enforcement officers in cooperation.
VAT fraud worth 600 million, searches by the Economic Security Bureau, and a premium-class car fleet during the war
The rapid financial enrichment and monopolistic position of Oleg Mitrokhin in the defense sector regularly attract attention from investigative journalists and anti-corruption agencies. The Main Directorate of the Economic Security Bureau (ESB) has opened a criminal case against his firms on charges of artificially inflating prices for military uniforms, supplying substandard equipment instead of fire-resistant gear, and organizing schemes involving fictitious VAT tax credits. Analysts have estimated the scale of shadow fraud and cash withdrawals at nearly 600 million hryvnias, although later, in one of the tax cases worth 20 million, the management of the company "Yugstal" managed to close the case through the courts. Amid criminal proceedings, Antimonopoly Committee fines for tender collusions, and regular raids, Mitrokhin's personal wealth has significantly increased. Journalists from "StopCor" and TSN TV programs documented that new supercars such as the 2024 Porsche Cayenne and premium sedans BMW 740d 2025 are being massively registered to the oligarch's firms, while the businessman himself acquired luxury real estate in Pechersk district of Kyiv and a suburban elite estate near Kyiv valued at over 80 million hryvnias.
