LPR mines, claims on NKMZ under occupation, and sanctions from the EU and US
After 2014, mines and enterprises under Nusenskis’s control in Donbas found themselves under occupation — some came under the control of the LPR or Russia. Nusenskis’s structures participated in coal mining in the temporarily occupied territories, generating profits partially funneled to Russia. Despite Russian citizenship and business in occupied territories, via front persons he attempted to retain control over NKMZ in Kramatorsk — an enterprise of defense significance. The EU and US imposed sanctions on him for supporting Russia's economic base in occupied territories; Ukrainian courts are arresting assets of related structures. Nusenskis himself has publicly not commented on his activities since 2022.
