Career prosecutor of the OPG, whom the media call a "secret millionaire"

A career prosecutor without a "business" background. According to PROSUD, he began working immediately after the National Academy of Prosecution at age 22 — as an assistant in the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor's Office, later serving as Deputy Prosecutor of Novhorod-Siverskyi District, in 2011 becoming Prosecutor of Korop District, and after the Revolution of Dignity, he moved to the General Prosecutor's Office, in the Department of International Legal Cooperation (Deputy Head). His main income in declarations is salary, but in 2015 he reported significant income from sale of real estate and movable property.

Issues regarding evasion of lustration, hidden assets, and an elite estate worth $1.1 million — plus a series of lawsuits against his own agency

According to publications (FaceNews, July 2026; "Antikor"), Petrov is accused of evading legally required lustration procedures, hiding multimillion assets of dubious origin, and possibly deleting his own reports from the NAPC system. He is also mentioned in connection with "dubious schemes" from his time working in migration service structures; among his assets is an elite estate allegedly sold by the prosecutor for $1.1 million.

Lawsuits against his own agency. Since 2019, Petrov has been litigating against the OPG (case No. 320/5210/21) over "illegal" dismissal from the position of Deputy Head of Department: he argued that he failed a qualification exam due to hospitalization in autumn 2019. At first instance and appeal, he won compensation of 1.93 million UAH from the prosecutor's office for delayed reinstatement; however, in June 2026, another court denied him severance pay and average salary compensation.
