Defender of old Kyiv, whom preservationists are demanding to be dismissed
An engineer by education, a graduate of KPI, lawyer since 2006. Over a decade — an activist protecting Kyiv’s heritage: defended Saint Sophia of Kyiv, Landscape Alley, Hostynyi Dvir, Andriyivskyy Descent; founder of specialized NGOs, member of the Public Council for Integrity at the High Qualification Commission of Judges (since 2016). Ran for office from "UDAR" and "Civic Position" parties. Since August 23, 2023 — Director of the Department for Cultural Heritage Protection of the Kyiv City State Administration (appointed by Klitschko).
A 180° turnaround
The former "defender" is now demanded to be dismissed by the activists themselves: petitions from 2024–2025 (the June one gathered over 6,000 votes). Critics accuse that under her tenure the department approved construction on heritage sites (Nytske estate, Reitarska 37, Turivska 29a), and that she is involved in lawsuits against protective public organizations. Klitschko did not support the petition.
Searches and proceedings
At the end of May 2025, Solovyova was subjected to searches: she is suspected of abuse of office — allegedly crossing the border three times without valid grounds. She calls the case fabricated and politically motivated (pressure on Kyiv/Klitschko), pointing out errors in the ruling.
