Before being elected as a deputy, he was known as an organizer of cultural and entertainment events and a civic activist. In 2019, he headed Zelensky's Team in the Volyn region and entered the Rada at No. 46 on the "Servant of the People" list. Member of the Committee on Anti-Corruption Policy. In 2018, he declared only UAH 33,566 in salary from the village council. Since March 2022, he has been driving a 2018 Renault Koleos owned by his own assistant-deputy.

NGO Cover for Evasion

At the beginning of 2023, Volyn journalists established that more than a thousand conscripts entered the "Shlyakh" system through just one NGO. According to YouControl, one of the founders of the NGO "Volyn Youth Active" is Sterniychuk himself. At least 18 conscripts left the country abroad through this organization in 2023 and did not return.

Sterniychuk stated that he has long had no relation to the organization — but could not explain why this is not reflected in YouControl. At the same time, he admitted that he himself used it to travel to Poland. The deputy also reported that he "verbally contacted the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU)" requesting them to investigate — in other words, he initiated an inquiry himself according to his own words.
