Lawyer-MP with rapid wealth and apartments without visible sources

Volodymyr Vatras is a People's Deputy of the IX convocation from the "Servant of the People" party, a lawyer, Doctor of Law, and head of the law firm "Vatras and Partners." He entered parliament thanks to a personal acquaintance with Zelensky from KVN — in 2019, he was the official representative of the presidential candidate in Khmelnytskyi Oblast. In the Rada, he heads the subcommittee on the organization and activities of the bar — meaning he effectively regulates the very field in which he continues to actively practice law, which is a classic conflict of interest. According to declarations, Vatras and his wife Oksana owned 12 residences as of 2022, plus two houses under construction: the MP himself had four apartments in Khmelnytskyi, while his wife had five apartments in the same city and two residential houses in the village of Lisovi Hrynivtsi. In 2021, Vatras became the owner of a 492 sq. m. house. The total size of assets for 2024 is 20.85 million UAH.

Voting against NABU and legislation tailored for own business

On July 22, 2025, Vatras voted "for" bill No. 12414, which introduced subordination of the NABU and SAP operations to the Prosecutor General — a law that effectively eliminated the independence of anti-corruption agencies and turned them into entities controlled by the authorities. At the end of 2022, he voted for urban planning reform No. 5655, implemented in the interests of developers.
