Main Intelligence Directorate (MID)

Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine (MID) is a specialized military intelligence agency responsible for the collection, analysis, and transmission of information necessary to protect national security, defense capability, and state interests of Ukraine. The primary task of the MID is to identify external threats, obtain intelligence data on military, political, and economic risks, and provide the state leadership with up-to-date information to make strategic decisions. The agency operates in accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine and legislation in the field of defense and security.

The powers of the Main Intelligence Directorate include conducting military, special, and information intelligence, analyzing the international security situation, countering external threats, and participating in special operations to protect Ukraine's state interests. The MID cooperates with Ukrainian law enforcement agencies and international security partners in intelligence exchange and countering modern challenges.

In current conditions, the Main Intelligence Directorate plays an important role in strengthening the state's defense capacity, ensuring information security, and protecting Ukraine's sovereignty. The agency's activities are aimed at timely threat detection, supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and ensuring the stability and security of the state.
