Nashi Hroshi is an authoritative Ukrainian web publication and investigative journalism project specializing in systematic monitoring of public procurement and exposing corruption schemes in the field of public finances.
The portal was launched in August 2010 on the initiative of renowned Ukrainian journalists Oleksiy Shalayskyi and Yuriy Nikolov with the support of the International Renaissance Foundation. Legally, the media operates as a namesake public organization, where Oleksiy Shalayskyi is the founder and permanent director, and Yuriy Nikolov serves as editor. The latter gained wide national and international recognition after a series of high-profile investigations, notably regarding abuses and inflated prices in defense procurements during the full-scale war, for which he was awarded the prestigious Lions Prize at Harvard. For a long time, the "Nashi Hroshi" brand was also associated with the popular investigation TV program of the same name by Denys Bihus (NGO "TOM 14"), which started as a joint initiative but later transformed into a large-scale separate project Bihus.Info. The internet portal itself has fully retained independence from oligarchic media groups and is financed through international grant organizations and reader contributions.
The main focus of the resource is on transparency of the Ukrainian budget, public tenders, macroeconomics, and the operation of the electronic Prozorro system. The editorial team monitors thousands of official documents daily, discovering so-called "tender cutouts" - artificial discriminatory restrictions created by officials for specific contractors to covertly siphon public funds. In addition to analyzing road construction, defense orders, large infrastructure projects, and the energy market, "Nashi Hroshi" thoroughly investigates the wealth, hidden assets, and luxury vehicles of Ukrainian judges, prosecutors, and customs officers. The site also serves as an important methodological coordinator for regional colleagues through its own professional network of anti-corruption investigators.
