Graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Worked as a correspondent, editor, and news presenter at STB, First National Channel, and UBC. One of the co-founders of Hromadske Television and the investigative journalism project "Slidstvo.Info".

Funds for the army that lay idle in an account for four years

In 2015, "Slidstvo.Info" received a grant from the "Free Press of Eastern Europe" in the amount of 15,000 euros. Hnap received the funds in his own account and publicly promised to transfer them to the army. According to the project manager Anna Babinets, only 2,000 euros went to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 3,917 euros to editorial needs, and the remaining 9,083 euros he kept in his own bank safe for four years. When asked by journalists, he explained that he "did not have enough time" to return the funds.

Presidential campaign and recall

In January 2019, following the primaries of the "Strength of the People" party, Hnap was nominated as a presidential candidate. The money scandal broke out immediately after his registration with the Central Election Commission. Soon after, he withdrew from the election in favor of Anatoliy Hrytsenko.

Some publications mention accusations of "ties with Moscow" and collusion with Onyshchenko.
