Lobbying for the male minister husband
Iryna Stepanivna Lutsenko is a People's Deputy of the VII, VIII, and IX convocations, Deputy Chairperson of the BPP faction, and representative of President Poroshenko in the Verkhovna Rada (April 2017 – May 2019). She is the wife of former Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko.
In 2007, Ukrainska Pravda accused Yuriy Lutsenko, then Minister of Internal Affairs, of lobbying the interests of the firm "Ukrainian Advanced Telecommunications," where Iryna worked — allegedly facilitating the company's access to the Ministry of Internal Affairs' funds for mobile communication. In 2004, Yuriy Lutsenko's declaration stated that the minister lived on a bare salary, but the family income was growing — Lutsenko himself explained this by saying that his wife earned money while he "lived exclusively for the affairs of Ukraine," refusing to disclose her workplace to journalists.
Massive button-pressing
On December 9, 2015, while being a deputy of the BPP faction, Iryna Lutsenko repeatedly voted on behalf of herself and three other deputies — this incident became the largest fact of button-pressing in the Verkhovna Rada that year.
On October 5, 2017, in the session hall of the Verkhovna Rada, she was noted for the remark "Oleh, take the goat away, take him the hell away!" addressed to deputy Oleh Nedava — urging him to forcibly remove from the podium deputy Yuriy Levchenko (Freedom) who was speaking against the presidential bill regarding the special status of Donbas.
Godparents with the Poroshenkos and unexpected resignation of the mandate
In 2013, Yuriy Lutsenko became the godfather of the daughter of deputy Yuriy Stets, with the wife of the future president, Maryna Poroshenko, becoming the godmother — family ties directly with the Poroshenko family. In 2019, she was elected to the Rada from the European Solidarity party, but within a few months resigned her mandate citing health reasons (stroke).
