German "strategic investor" who became the face of the scandalous "Cosmolot" casino

Anglo-German businessman (citizen of Germany with registration in the UK), founder of Euro Atlantic Group. In 2023, he became a co-owner of LLC "SpaceX" — the operator of the online casino "Cosmolot," and from October 2024 he became its ultimate beneficiary (49% directly + 51% through the American "Nevada Gaming Holding," where he is president and CEO). "Cosmolot" is a giant: the 10th largest taxpayer in the country, with revenues of approximately 208 million euros in 2023.

A billion in unpaid taxes versus "officials demand bribes from me"

In October 2023, the State Bureau of Investigations raided and accused "Cosmolot" of evading payment of over 1 billion UAH in taxes and organizing unlicensed gambling; about 700 million UAH were seized from accounts. Damerau responded loudly — telling Financial Times that in fact corrupt law enforcement officers and people from the Presidential Administration are demanding tens of millions of euros from him, and the case is fabricated. The story turned into an international case of "foreign investor versus Ukrainian corruption." Who is the victim and who is the schemer — the courts have not yet decided.
