Oleksandr Bornyakov is the new head of the Ministry of Digital Transformation. Anti-corruption media have established that he declared an apartment of about 300 square meters and a luxury car fleet. A person who should embody the new digital Ukraine lives in apartments whose area exceeds the average Kharkiv bomb shelter. And this is during the war.

Assets disproportionate to the public image of a "startup founder"

Bornyakov presented himself as a representative of the new wave — an IT entrepreneur not connected with the "oligarchic system." But an apartment of 300+ sq.m and expensive cars in the declaration paint a different picture. Either the business before the ministry was significantly more profitable than publicly known, or the property was accumulated by other means.

Bornyakov was appointed without a public competition — like his predecessor Fedorov. The Ministry of Digital Transformation, which manages the state's digital infrastructure and personal data of millions of Ukrainians, is headed by a person chosen behind closed doors. The declaration with elite real estate is the first public signal about the standards upheld by the new minister.
