People's Deputy of the IX convocation from "Servant of the People", member of the Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy; over 20 years of legal practice. In October 2019, he was one of 11 members of the financial committee from "SN" who did not support a bill against corruption schemes in real estate appraisal; following this vote, SAP registered a criminal proceeding — each deputy allegedly received $30,000 of illicit benefits. Petrunyak was also accused of close ties with oligarch Kolomoisky.

Overall, the couple declares 36 real estate properties; at the end of April 2024, the deputy bought a 2023 Audi S7, declaring a price half the market value.
