The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine is the central body within the prosecution system that ensures the organization and coordination of prosecutors' activities, supervises compliance with laws, and represents the interests of the state in court in cases defined by law. The primary goal of the Office is to protect the rights and freedoms of citizens, ensure legality, combat crime, and strengthen law and order in the state. The body operates in accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine, the laws of Ukraine, and international legal standards.
The powers of the Office of the Prosecutor General include procedural leadership of pre-trial investigations, supporting the state prosecution in court, coordinating the work of law enforcement agencies, and overseeing compliance with legislation during criminal proceedings. The agency also participates in international legal cooperation, counteraction to corruption, organized crime, and protection of Ukraine's national interests.
In current conditions, the Office of the Prosecutor General plays an important role in ensuring legal stability, reforming the justice system, and enhancing the efficiency of the law enforcement system. The institution's activities are aimed at strengthening public trust in prosecution bodies and ensuring the principle of the rule of law.
