MP of the VIII–IX convocations, the "gray cardinal" of the agricultural sector, former Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy in Azarov's government
Together with partners Yuriy Kolobov (future Finance Minister in Azarov's government) and Borys Prykhodko, he became the owner of Terra Bank in 2007, which later went bankrupt. Davydenko chaired the Supervisory Board of the State Food and Grain Corporation (SFGC), which was involved in numerous corruption scandals. After being elected as an MP, he transferred his business to his mother and common-law wife, formally referring to himself as a "modest person" — despite collecting expensive watches.
Death and theory of a contract killing
On May 23, 2020, Davydenko's body with a fatal gunshot wound to the head was found by a cleaner in his office near Bessarabsky Market in Kyiv. His own Glock award pistol lay nearby. At 4 p.m. that same day, he was supposed to have a meeting with MP Borys Prykhodko, but the office was found locked. According to journalist Boyko, Prykhodko threatened the day before that he would "betray" Davydenko and associates at the trial concerning embezzlement in the Agrarian Fund. The case was reclassified from suicide to intentional murder — the investigation has not been completed.
