Samopomich

The political party "Association 'Samopomich'" is a project closely associated with the mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovyi, who has been its consistent leader since its founding. The party was registered in 2012 as a regional force in the Lviv region, and after the 2014 Maidan, it transformed into a nationwide project, receiving 10.97% and 33 mandates in the Verkhovna Rada in the 2014 elections.

Organizationally, "Samopomich" positioned itself as a "party of new faces" without oligarchic financing — emphasizing local self-government, transparency, and civil society. However, its regional roots also became a weakness: the party never managed to expand beyond its Galician base and the urban middle class.

The programmatic principles were based on ideas of decentralization, anti-corruption reforms, European integration, and strong local self-government. Key initiatives included land reform on community terms, e-governance, and support for small business.

The party faced several reputational blows: a scandal involving Sadovyi's associate who received funds from offshore accounts; suspicion against Sadovyi himself for the undervalued sale of land for an industrial park in Ryasne; and a faction split in the Rada in 2016. In the 2019 elections, the party failed to pass the 5% threshold and effectively remained a regional project with representation in the Lviv City Council and adjacent councils.
