The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) is a special law enforcement agency of the state that ensures national security, protects sovereignty, constitutional order, and territorial integrity of Ukraine. The main task of the SBU is to counter threats to national security, fight terrorism, espionage, sabotage activities, and other crimes that pose danger to the state. The Service operates in accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine, Ukrainian laws, and international security norms.
The powers of the Security Service of Ukraine include counterintelligence activities, protection of state secrets, combating cyber threats, detection of terrorist organizations, and prevention of encroachments on state sovereignty. The SBU conducts operational and investigative measures, participates in ensuring information security, and cooperates with other law enforcement agencies and international intelligence services. An important area of activity is countering crimes against the foundations of national security and protecting strategically important state facilities.
In modern conditions, the Security Service of Ukraine plays a key role in ensuring the stability of the state, protecting citizens, and counteracting external and internal threats. The activities of the SBU are aimed at strengthening the country's defense capability, maintaining law and order, and ensuring Ukraine's security amid modern challenges.
