54 of MPs who voted for the “dictatorial” laws are rushing to the Rada in 2019 year

In the extraordinary elections to the Rada, 54 candidates for deputy who in 2014 voted for Yanukovych’s “dictatorial laws” are running.

This was reported by the Committee of Voters of Ukraine on Friday

18 persons are running on party lists.

On the Opposition Bloc list there are 11 such persons; on the Opposition Platform — For Life list there are five; and one candidate each on the lists of the Agrarian Party of Ukraine (Mykhailo Poplavskyi) and the Independence party (Ivan Stupak).

The rest, 36 persons, are running in single-member districts. Of them 27 by self-nomination, 10 nominated by political parties: five run from Opposition Platform, four from Oppoblok.

In January 16, 2014, at the height of the Revolution of Dignity, the Rada, with a gross violation of rules and procedure, adopted a package of laws later dubbed “dictatorial.” In particular, parliament tightened restrictions on holding mass actions, strengthened requirements for telecommunications and internet service providers, introduced criminal liability for defamation and extremism, and tightened regulations on media operations.
