From Hereha to Hetmantsev. Full list of recipients of the Vyacheslav Chornovil Parliamentary Badge – Pidozra

The awards for contribution to the development of Ukrainian parliamentarism were given to 19 people, two of them posthumously

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk presented the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine’s badge “For the Development of Parliamentarism” named after Vyacheslav Chornovil. This time the parliamentary award was given to 19 people, among them members of parliament and representatives of the Verkhovna Rada leadership, writes Glavcom.

The presentation of the awards took place during the ceremonial events on the occasion of the adoption of the Act of Proclamation of Ukraine’s Independence, 24 August 2026 year.

The badge “For the Development of Parliamentarism” named after Vyacheslav Chornovil is one of the new honorary awards of the Verkhovna Rada. It was introduced in 2025. The award is given for outstanding merits in the establishment and development of Ukrainian parliamentarism, strengthening democratic institutions, and contributions to interparliamentary cooperation.

The Vyacheslav Chornovil badge was introduced by the Verkhovna Rada as part of the renewal of the parliamentary awards system. The corresponding decision was aimed, among other things, at de-Sovietizing approaches to recognizing citizens and others with parliamentary awards.

Recall that during the ceremonial events on 24 August, Stefanchuk honored the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets. The ombudsperson received a different parliamentary award – the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine’s badge “For Service to the Ukrainian People” named after Levko Lukianenko.

This award is intended to honor selfless service to the Ukrainian people and contributions to strengthening Ukrainian statehood. Along with the Chornovil badge, it belongs to the new honorary awards of the Verkhovna Rada.

Recall that on 24 August President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky presented state awards to foreign leaders who arrived in Kyiv on the occasion of the 35-th anniversary of the restoration of Ukraine’s independence.

The Order of Liberty was awarded to the presidents of Estonia, Alar Karis; Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda; and Finland, Alexander Stubb. The President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, was awarded the Order of Princess Olga, 1st class.

Prime Minister of Luxembourg Luc Frieden received the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, 2nd class, and Prime Minister of Latvia Krišjānis Kariņš received the Order “For Merit,” 1st class. President of the European Council António Costa was awarded the Order of Europe.

In addition, Zelensky presented a new state distinction for the first time, “Gratitude of the Ukrainian People.” It was awarded to the people of the United Kingdom, and the award was received by the country’s prime minister, Rishi Sunak, who arrived in Ukraine on his first foreign trip. The distinction will be given to friends and partners who have helped the Ukrainian people from the outset.
