Deich Borys Davydovych

An influential Ukrainian politician of the Viktor Yanukovych era, longtime member and one of the leaders of the "Party of Regions."

From 2002 to 2006, he headed the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, and later was elected as a People's Deputy of Ukraine in the 5th, 6th, and 7th convocations (2006–2014). Despite receiving Ukraine's highest state title "Hero of Ukraine" in 2013, during the Maidan Revolution he supported the Anti-Maidan movement, voted for the "dictatorship laws of January 16," and in spring 2014 openly sided with the occupiers and called for the peninsula's annexation by Russia, due to which he was included in the lists of Ukraine's traitors. He died in 2022 from complications of coronavirus in a Moscow hospital.

GGPoker and related scandals

In the context of the gambling business and the GGPoker room, the name of Borys Deich emerged through an investigation by investigative journalists regarding the current head of "GGPoker Ukraine" (LLC "NSUS UA") Oleh Rachuk. According to archives and media materials, prior to his entry into the gambling market, lawyer Oleh Rachuk worked for a long time as an official assistant to People's Deputy Borys Deich and was effectively his personal lawyer.
