The National Police of Ukraine is a central executive authority responsible for protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens, combating crime, maintaining public safety and law and order throughout the territory of the state. The primary task of the authority is to protect society, the state, and citizens from criminal offenses and to ensure the safety of the population.
The structure of the National Police includes the criminal police, patrol police, cyber police, investigative units, special purpose police, and other specialized services. The authority carries out operational and investigative activities, pre-trial investigations, controls compliance with legislation, and responds to offenses. The police also participate in maintaining public order during mass events, eliminating consequences of emergencies, and cooperate with international law enforcement organizations.
